About Yoga with Katy

I teach a form of yoga inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, author of ‘Awakening the Spine’. You will learn how to find a new interest and acceptance in your body, and use patience, curiosity and compassion to help break old habits and cultivate new ones. This approach encourages you to unfold, open and re-energise, without imposing on the body.  We are not trying to impose a rigid preconception about what we think an Asana (yoga position) should look like, but instead, through the use of gravity, the breath and expansion of the spine we find a way to achieve more space, strength and suppleness in our body, without the use of force. ‘If you are kind to your body, it will respond in an incredible way’ (Vanda Scaravelli).

I offer a friendly, warm, down-to-earth environment, where I encourage my students to work in an open, sensitive and inquisitive way. Classes are relaxed and playful, but can sometimes also be still, deep and meditative. My classes are for everyone. I get great satisfaction out of working closely with an individual and seeing their body tranform; by helping find different ways of approaching the asanas and offering gentle hands on encouragement when required.
