About YOGARAMI
Yoga has been part of my life for nearly 40 years – having discovered it as a child.
Through the years I have learned that Yoga is a ”broad church” encompassing many different styles and practices. What unifies all this diversity is the experience that the practice of Yoga generates – of living in the now, the present moment, taking the awareness deep into the body whilst also expanding it outwards resulting in deepening and expanding consciousness itself.
The effects of a Yoga practice can assist in lowering stress and it’s associated symptoms, calming the mind and shifting ones outlook on life and relationships. Greater ease of movement in the body is another helpful outcome, building strength and assisting the body’s many metabolic & hormonal functions.
I teach several different styles but for me the purpose of the practice is always the same – to remain open to discovery about oneself and ones relationship to the world around, changing the consciousness on some level, opening up space in the body and mind allowing the experience to develop.
My teaching style is founded on strong alignment principles and creative sequencing. Classes vary from a gentler practice suitable for beginners to a strong Vinyasa flow.
All classes have at least some element of flow along with Pranayama (energy direction through breath control) meditation/concentration, Kriyas (cleansing practices).
Postures are sequenced through effective warm ups, progressing through a series of Asana (postures) to a guided relaxation (savasana) at the end. Modifications/progressions offered at all levels and you are encouraged to work to your own ability. Props are provided where necessary and I carry spare mats. You are encouraged to bring a blanket!
