I am a BSY registered Yoga instructor and I teach gentle Hatha Yoga aimed at those over forty. My classes are accessible for all ages and abilities.
I teach students to be mindful of their bodies whilst practicing, so that they work within their personal limitations. Many of my students have physical injuries or problems such as spondylosis, arthritis etc, and most poses (asanas) can be modified to suit individual needs.
Yoga practice helps to gain and maintain flexibility, muscle and bone strength, balance and breath control. As well as physical benefits yoga can help to ease anxiety, stress, insomnia and much more
All classes start with a very short grounding meditation and then a gentle head to toe warm up, which is very important to minimize risk of pulled muscles or injury to the joints. After the yoga practice the class ends with a guided relaxation, because as well as physical practice for the body, it is very important to relax the mind as this has enormous benefits for wellbeing.
I have traditional mat classes in St Austell on Thursday evenings and Friday mornings and Gorran Haven on Wednesday mornings .I also run Chair Yoga for seniors on Friday afternoons at Treverbyn and Saturdays at Mevagissey.
