Description:

Studies show that Active Births are faster, less painful and safer for both mother and baby.

These weekly classes are about enjoying your pregnancy, focusing on the positives, as well as providing you with the information and the practical and physical guidance you need to build your confidence as a birthing woman.

As well as yoga exercises, the classes include breathing and relaxation techniques, optimal baby positioning, understanding what happens at the different stages of labour, massage, how to cope with pain and much more. No previous experience of yoga is required.

The regular practice of Active Birth Yoga will bring well-being, increased strength and flexibility as well as a stronger awareness of your changing body, mind and emotions. It will help you focus inwards.

The movements and the breathing will equip you internally, showing you over time how to soften, how to open, how to attune and become more sensitive to your body, your baby and your breath.

The week-to-week rehearsal of positions, breathing and relaxation establishes a template so that when labour starts for real, all is in place.

Do have a look at our website for further information and to check out the timetable.

I look forward to meeting you,
Patricia

My only regret about this class is that I didn’t find out about it until my 4th pregnancy! The yoga exercises were incredibly relaxing and gave me an opportunity to spend time connecting to my baby that I didn’t get chance to at home with 3 children. It felt really indulgent to just go and spend some time in Patricia’s welcoming class. The yoga was easy to follow, despite not having any previous yoga experience. A huge benefit to this class is that it isn’t just yoga. There was also lots of information and group discussion about pregnancy, labour and… Read more »

I cannot recommend this class highly enough. The perfect opportunity to relax, stretch and connect with your baby, in a warm and welcoming environment. Patricia is a beacon of knowledge & positivity on all things pregnancy and birth. The classes include yoga, relaxation and discussion, often women who have had their babies will return to tell their birth story. The techniques learnt in my yoga class ~breathing/vocalisation/positioning~ carried me through a long labour & played an enormous part in achieving the birth i wanted. Particias classes are really good value for money and a complete joy. I can’t thank her… Read more »

Before attending these classes I had assumed labour would be a v painful and probably quite scary unavoidable part of becoming a parent and something to think about as little as possible until the event! Attending these classes totally transformed my view. They are relaxed, fun and informative and above all encourage a really positive and empowering view of labour. I found the breathing and vocalising techniques invaluable, so much so that I returned again when pregnant with my second child for a refresher! It is v suitable for a yoga novice like me and there is plenty of time… Read more »

I joined Patricia’s yoga class at the start of my 2nd trimester, hoping to find a nice way to relax on a Monday evening. I very soon realised that I had discovered something very special indeed. This class is so much more than just yoga: part relaxation, part active birth preparation, part pregnancy trouble-shooting. Patricia is a warm, caring, knowledgeable birthing guru who believes all women should have the right to have a positive, empowering birth experience. My own birth experience was extremely positive and empowering, and I owe so much of that to the skills, practices and knowledge acquired… Read more »

I started Patricia’s yoga classes when I was 16 weeks pregnant and carried on right up until just before my daughter’s birth. The classes were so much more than a bit of stretching…Patricia has real practical in depth knowledge of birth from her experience as a doula, and her advice was an empowering (and well researched) alternative to the standard responses I got from my midwife. More than that, the sense of community generated by sharing experiences with other pregnant women was incredibly supportive (and continues to be so). I used all of the movement and breathing exercises we learned… Read more »
