Description:

Small, group classes offering the opportunity to access gentle yoga practice safely with a growing deep sense of awareness of the body and improved concentration leading to more clarity of the mind. In this tradition, the emphasis is very much on linking breath with movement. The Viniyoga approach developed by T.K.V. Desikachar, son of the late Sri T. Krishnamacharya, was designed to be therapeutic, matching practice to the needs of the individual student. Having trained in this tradition through the AYS (Association for Yoga Studies) Sadhana Mala Teacher Training course, I feel privileged to be able to offer a very accessible yoga practice in this established and respected yoga tradition.

Fridays: 9.15 AM - 10.15 AM
Chair-supported yoga class Tuesday afternoons, 2.30 PM - 3.30 PM

I would thoroughly recommend Kathryn’s classes to those new to yoga and those with experience. Kathryn is a sensitive and caring teacher and her style of yoga promotes a sense of welbeing and calmness both physically and mentally. Classes are small and Kathryn is able to adapt poses to individual needs so that everyone gets maximum benefit from their practice.

Kathryn is an excellent teacher and Viniyoga is a mindful approach to yoga suitable for everyone. Each movement is linked to the breath and the practice develops a deeper awareness of the body which has a very relaxing and uplifting effect on the mind. Everything is demonstrated and explained and Kathryn takes care to make adjustments for individual needs.

Kathryn is an excellent teacher who considers the needs of each participant in the group. She emphasises the importance of working with the breath and always offers alternatives and modifications. Participants are able to work at their own level and are encouraged to pay attention to the process rather than simply contorting themselves to get into a pose. An Alexander Technique teacher myself, I thoroughly recommend her classes.

Kathryn’s yoga classes really helped me to connect more with my breath and body. She gives great attention to detail, gently and encouragingly helping each person to achieve their best and carefully noting and remembering any chronic or new injuries or weaknesses, so as to make sure that people didn’t over strain.
She always ends the session with a relaxing meditation, sometimes a mantra, which you can choose to join in with if you wish.
I really recommend this class, Kathryn is a warm gentle person and a great teacher.
