‘Yoga is not about touching your toes, its about what you learn on the way down’
The above statement had me grasped in a sense of curiosity, I certainly couldn’t touch my toes at that time so what was there to learn? Since I first rolled out my yoga mat and took some much needed time out for myself, Yoga has opened up to be much more than I could have possibly imagined.
I began practicing Yoga over 10 years ago and become more regular within my practice whilst living and working in Singapore, where the above statement through regular practice finally made some much needed sense.
During my employment history I became very aware of how modern day stress can affect our mind and bodies, and also with a progression of back pain I decided that it was time to gain a deeper awareness and understanding of yoga, and it’s eight limbs.
I studied Hatha yoga within in a Ashram in southern India and began my full learnings of all aspects of Yoga, including Pranayama and Meditation. I completed the International Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in the Ashram in March 2013, and have never looked back. As the journey to deepen my knowledge of yoga continued together with the urge to bring Yoga to everyone; no matter at what stage of their lives, I returned to India and completed the International Yoga Alliance Pre Natal Teacher Training programme, and the certification in Teacher Training Restorative Yoga.
Becoming more and more aware of how assisted stretches during our asana’s (poses) can aid a persons practice, I then completed the diploma in Ayurvedic Yoga massage, which also incorporates a deep tissue detoxification massage, amongst many other benefits.
I am so grateful to be able to share the knowledge of what I have learnt; key to a happier, less stressed out, healthier, balanced mind and body and I strongly believe the key to a sense of well being is finding the balance in life, and thats exactly what Yoga taught me to do, – I hope you will join me in taking some well deserved time out for yourselves to develop the amazing tools yoga has to offer.
