My name Wai-Yin .....Yinny is an adopted nickname. Its also easier to remember!
I am a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals, Associate Teacher Level 2 and have undertaken 470 hours training towards an advanced 500 hour teaching certificate and will complete my final 30 hours in July 2018. I qualified to teach Yoga in May 2013 after graduating from my 200 hour TT with Yoga London in Ashtanga Vinyasa. In 2015 I qualified to teach Pregnancy yoga and in May 2017 began training towards my 300 hour certificate with The Yoga People, opting to focus on the practice of Yin. I will complete my advanced training Summer 2018, although the learning never ends. Yoga is a life practice, there is always room to learn, grow and share.
My yoga journey started in 2009 as an Iyengar student. The strong alignment focus of an Iyengar practise has influenced my style of teaching together with a love of strong flowing and creative sequencing which stems from a personal practice in Ashtanga, Jivamukti and Anusara styles of yoga.
My teaching style draws a students attention to awareness of safe , energetic alignment and strong focus on the breath. I encourage students to be aware of their own body, and to move intuitively in a way that feels good and safe for them as they practise. This cultivates a more internal focus and helps build the confidence to adapt and safely modify the posture in a way that benefits the individual. It opens the practise of connecting with the inner self and to greater awareness and respect for the body. Our bodies are unique, our experiences personal to us and this influences our movements.
Our yoga practise can change us in ways we do not expect. What we experience in life we bring to the mat and what we practise on the mat transforms us and we take that back out in to the world. In this sense, Yoga becomes a way of life, what we feel inside is reflected on the outside - the way we feel, interact and live.
I am based on the outskirts of London in Orpington, Bromley and enjoy life with my teenage sons, tasty food, theatre, cinema, good company, laughter, long talks about life and dreams of world travel. I love horses - you might see me riding on the Ashdown Forest and I have a little black cat who keeps good company indoors. I enjoy walking, nature, and love the soothing sounds of the sea. I try to travel to see new places as much as I can and always open to learning new things. My full time job is based in London and the South East as a Designer and of course I teach yoga!
Classes are Sunday and Monday (Orpington), Tuesday - Chislehurst, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday in Tunbridge Wells.
