About Mandy Meaden Yoga

Thank you for your interest in my yoga teaching.

ONE TO ONE’S
I specialise in teaching one to one and often work in a therapeutic capacity. I have experience of and enjoy working with people who are living with ME, MS, cancer, depression, joint and back pain and those who are simply going through a tough time. Yoga is a tremendous tool which can be tailored to support us through all of life’s ups and downs, all we have to do is the practice!

I am happy to teach small groups too.

My regular charge for this is £40 per hour and £10 for each additional half hour therafter. Concessions are available.

REGULAR CLASSES
I also teach friendly and enjoyable mixed ability yoga classes in South East London. Beginners and more experienced yogis are very welcome.

I teach hatha yoga in the tradition of T.Krishnamacharya (sometimes previously known as viniyoga) incorporating a mixture of dynamic and static postures as well as sequences as well as pranayama, philosophy and meditation.

I believe that yoga is an experience rather than a performance. Classes balance flexibility with strength and incorporate something for those of you who like an active class as well as for those seeking relaxation.

Classes last 1hr 30 mins and usually follow the format below…

Initial relaxation
Philosophy
Warm ups
Postural work (asanas)
Deep relaxation
Breath work (pranayama)/meditation

I have a first class free policy, so come along and see if you enjoy it!

MY BACKGROUND
I have been practicing yoga since I was a kid and my mum let me join her while she listened to her Richard Hittleman yoga casette tape or did her Racquel Welch yoga video! (My mum even practiced yoga while she was expecting me, so you could say I was even doing yoga in utero). From these humble beginnings a seed was planted and I have now been studying yoga formally since 2002 and teaching since 2004.

I am currently very fortunate to be mentored by the wonderful Gill Lloyd.

I have been inspired by the teaching of Sri TKV Desikachar (the son and student of Sri T.Krishnamacharya, often referred to as the father of modern yoga). I am grateful to all of my teachers on my yoga journey thus far: Christa Gaskill, Zoe Knott, Bob & Be Insley, Hannah Twigg, Roger King, Liz Murtha and Sarah Ryan and Kausthub Desikachar. I have also been influenced by the writing of Vanda Scaravelli, Donna Farhi, Mark Whitwell and Erich Schiffmann.

QUALIFICATIONS
I am a fully qualified and insured British Wheel of Yoga Advanced Teacher and am also qualified to teach by The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP)
