About Heather Elton Yoga

Ashtanga is taught in the Mysore tradition of Sri K Patabbhi Jois and Vinyasa Krama (or Hatha Flow) is an intelligent linking of poses rooted in classical yogic traditions that explores the physical, mental and subtle aspects of the practice. Yoga philosophy is integrated with asana and breath to reveal the spiritual path underlying the practice, and the technology to stabilise the mind to liberate one from suffering. Her approach is a deep physical and psychological practice that moves beyond a mere physical experience to make the spiritual yogic inquiry authentic and relevant to real life. The ultimate aim of yoga is love, liberation and freedom. Moksha.

Heather has studied with Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore and his senior students (Manju Jois, Richard Freeman, Nancy Gilgoff, John Scott, David Swenson, Matthew Sweeney and Rolf Naujokat); Vinyasa Flow with David Life and Sharon Gannon (Jivamukti Studios) and Edward Clark (Tripsichore Yoga Theatre); and BKS Iyengar with Dona Holleman, Alaric Newcombe and Glenn Ceresoli. Heather is a serious student of yogic philosophy and the Tibetan Mahayana path. She studied various meditation techniques, including 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreats in Myanmar (Burma) and Dhamma Dipa (Hereford, UK). Her spiritual path informs her teachings and has led her to sacred sites throughout India and the world. Heather is a published writer and travel photographer.
