About Embody | Yoga and Dance

I am a moving body teacher, facilitator and therapist based in south-east London. I offer astanga vinyasa and restorative yin yoga classes, courses and workshops; Phoenix Rising yoga therapy sessions; individual and group mentoring for yoga teachers; and Open Floor dance movement group events and individual sessions. I have been practising yoga since 1981 and teaching since 2003. I am a Yoga Register Teacher (Elder), a C-IAYT registered Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist, and an Open Floor teacher in training.

Over the decades, my practice has been challenged and enriched by Ehlers Danlos / Hypermobility Syndrome, and I specialise in working with people with hypermobility using the Mysore-style astanga method. I also offer occasional workshops for hypermobile yogis from all yoga backgrounds and for those who teach us. Please contact me if you’d like to be on the email list to receive notifications about these. I am autistic and welcome other neurodivergent people to my classes, and specialise in working with neurodivergent clients as a yoga and somatic movement therapist. My other therapeutic specialisms are eating disorders and developmental trauma (repeated childhood trauma sustained through experiences such as violence and sexual abuse). I also teach in the queer community, and have taught extensively in professional dance settings.

Moving body practices are ways of putting all of ourselves into motion. Through moving and witnessing, we create opportunities for what our body knows (but our mind may not yet be conscious of) to surface into awareness. By being present with ourselves in this fluid way, we are able to become gradually more aligned with our experience in each moment, and so live with increasing spontaneity, fulness and meaning. These practices are an invitation into the unexplored spaces of ourselves, a practical tool for living, a mystical path. Enjoy!
