About Health Through Movement

Health through movement teaches you how to work with your body rather than against it through tailored Yoga or Pilates sessions. On the mat, we are all the same. Taking part in Yoga or Pilates can give you some space away from your thoughts by focusing your attention on the body and breath.

The most common concern people have when thinking about starting Yoga or Pilates is “…but I’m not flexible enough”. Yoga and Pilates are not about being as flexible as you can be. These two disciplines can offer you so much more.

Sometimes our bodies need strengthening, sometimes they need stretching. At times we need to push ourselves, other times we need to relax. Through consultation, sessions will be tailored accordingly –considering your lifestyle to achieve the most beneficial results for your body and mind.

Learning about our body is a very personal experience, sometimes private or small group sessions can be helpful to build on this. These sessions are bespoke to your requirements. Following phone or email consultation to understand your challenges and objectives, sessions can be arranged. They are between 60-90 minutes long. Prices vary depending on your needs but usually start from £55.

Ruth, the owner and founder of Health Through Movement has been teaching since 2005 and is Level three qualified in both Yoga and Pilates. She has a BA degree in Health Promotion and Fitness and is fully insured and registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).

She has extensive experience working with adults and children. She has also worked with clients living with Fibromyalgia, MS, Schizophrenia, Autism, ADHA, Downs Syndrome and substance addiction and continues to develop and extend her knowledge and skills through regular CPD courses.

Ruth has previously worked with UKActive and Ramblers delivering physical activity interventions and also runs a volunteer organisation, Wellness Street.
