About Helen Skellett Yoga
My interest in yoga stems from early training as a ballerina where I trained at Central School of Ballet, The Royal Academy of Dance and performed with the English National Ballet. It is this love of movement to music, connecting the body and mind, which led me to becoming a dedicated yoga teacher.
The union of physical, mental and spiritual well being through yoga connects far back to my training and continues to create a mindful practice today. The connection with yoga, however, goes deeper – for me, it’s a moving meditation; elegant, graceful, short, repetitive movements creating stability, flexibility and physical strength.
By committing to continued learning – attending yoga classes and studying anatomy, philosophy, meditation and mindfulness – the knowledge I’ve acquired has given me the inspiration to live my life well. Yoga brings a calm awareness that can have a profound effect on our health and everyday life by simply coming to the mat and linking movement with the breath.
Anatomy and the structure of postures is key to a safe yoga practice and I provide verbal and hands-on adjustments to bring your body into better alignment, which facilitates skilled strengthening and stretching. I assess each individual, whether carrying injuries or not, and work with all my students to realise their highest potential.
I trained to become a certified Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher with Yoga London and am fully insured with Yoga Alliance UK.
