About Yoga with Carine

How the yoga journey began…

Initially I became interested in yoga as a form of self-care for musicians and I soon started to experience some of the physical and mental benefits. Yoga offered a way to release tension and stress and feel more grounded. Since then yoga has become a form of exploration and support throughout everyday life in many different aspects.

Teaching style and influences

I teach from an alignment focused approach and coming from a music therapy background I enjoy bringing together emotional and creative exploration with the physical expression of yoga. Teaching asana and sharing reflections on yoga philosophy and psychology in an accessible way hopefully allows students to access the benefits of yoga on different levels. Training on the well established Yogacampus course has offered me the opportunity to study with inspiring teachers including Mina Hosokawa, Liz Lark, Sarah Litton, Zephyr Wildman, Tanja Mickwitz, and many others. I have also studied with Judith Lasater, Jo Manuel, Lisa Sanfilippo and I feel greatly inspired by the work of fellow music therapist and yoga teacher Kate Binnie. In my teaching I aspire to provide a nurturing and encouraging environment to allow students to develop their own understanding of yoga in an enjoyable way. I teach mixed level classes, restorative yoga, and yoga for people with special needs.
