Hi I'm Selda, I'm a yoga teacher and an Indian head massage therapist based in North London.
I’m a firm believer in the mind-body connection and holistic therapies. I am still in awe of the positive impact that yoga has had on my life and I now have a real passion to share what I have learnt and help others find stillness within themselves. My goal is to essentially create an accepting and nourishing environment, where you can leave your worries behind, let go and be guided through a movement meditation.
I am currently offering private yoga sessions; 60 or 90 minutes for individuals or small groups. I can provide yoga equipment if needed and can travel to your home/office in London. The session can be personalised and adapted to your specific needs; whether that's to release any tension or tightness in your body due to stress, achieve certain goals or to develop your own home practice. You'll be able to ask questions and work at a pace that works for you.
I currently teach vinyasa and hatha styles of yoga and can adapt the pace/nature of the session according to your preference. I offer hands-on adjustments if requested to help with alignment in poses or assist you in going deeper into a posture. I am also a firm believer in sound healing and can incorporate a short meditation in the session with the use of a tank drum for its sound healing properties.
60 minute private yoga session - £40
90 minute private yoga session - £60
I am also an Indian head massage therapist and can provide a head massage at the end of the yoga session. Indian head massage, also known Champissage originates from an Indian alternative medicine system called Ayurveda. It’s a holistic treatment that focuses on massaging the head, neck and shoulders. Ayurveda translates to the ‘science of life’ and is based on the notion that the mind and body are connected and so can influence one another.
The aim of the massage is to release the stress that accumulates in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. The effect isn’t just physical, it works on an emotional level too; calming the mind, promoting relaxation and relieving stress.
Indian head massage supports the nervous system by alleviating stress and assisting in engaging the parasympathetic nervous system. It also stimulates the lymphatic system, encouraging the elimination of toxins; helps break down muscle knots; relieves chronic neck and shoulder stiffness; and improves circulation. Head massage can also be used to stimulate hair growth, improve concentration, and relieve migraine pain.
The massage will focus on your upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head (including scalp) and face. I’ll be using traditional techniques and if you have not received an Indian head massage before you may find some of the techniques unusual; stick with it. You will feel really serene and relaxed afterwards and the results are worth it.
