What is Yoga?

Yoga is something different to each and every person.

Emily’s thoughts on yoga in London “I feel my role as a yoga teacher in London is to encourage people to find time in their lives stepping away from their everyday activities and indulge in a little calm and inner peace. I take on the challenge of teaching yoga in London each and every day with a dedication and intention to find a better stronger, more balanced self. How long this intention lasts can vary day to day but at least I always begin with this, which puts me ahead of most people in this world. By choosing this as my Job it is my role to find a little calm for people in the storm that is London city. I offer the opportunity to tangle the body into some obscure shapes through the practice of yoga whilst keeping the mind calm, (often easier said than done, one of the reasons we call this an ongoing practice) and therefore using this as a reflective tool to find that same calm when being faced with the entanglements of life. Working to find freeness in the body with a union to free up the mind. I start all my practices with the breath, the breath being the one thing we do all have in common the first tool to finding space in the body and mind, enabling us to reflect this into finding space and time in our every day life.”

“Yoga is the union of mind, body and spirit.”

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic and powerful style of yoga. You will gain a good level of fitness through regular practice and slowly increasing the poses you do, adapting the intensity of each poses and the flow speed often slowing things down to make them more intense. Each pose creates a different shape and different depth of stretch and strength depending on the individual. Everyone’s body is different and no matter how far you are into a posture you will still be gaining an enormous benefit.

Yoga is time for ones self, it is your practice and you can do as much or as little your body will allow, this may alter from day to day. Always listen to the body and not to the mind. This can mean pushing yourself a little further sometimes and not allow the mind to let you give up or opposing sometimes our body needs nurturing always be aware of your body’s calling.

After a class, you will leave feeling happy, content, peaceful, relaxed and rejuvenated.

“Find time in your day to move every part of the body.”
