Yoga
Leisure centre classes will start promptly with
time to clean your own space & mat.
CLASSES
These
will be beginners/mixed ability Yoga classes
with emphasis on breathing and finding ease
in movement. Exercise, through sun salutation
movement and steady postures (shapes).
There will be recovery time between postures
and time at the end for relaxation.
Every body is different.
I will encourage you to focus on your practice
and self enquiry, guide you into postures and
through movements.
It is important that you listen to your body
and try to find a balance between effort and
not over-doing it and simply doing what ever
feels appropriate on that day.
(it really is OK to just lay down and rest or
do something different)
WHAT
DO I NEED ?
You
need your own yoga mat, especially at this time
(Covid19).
If you do not have a mat I can lend a clean
sanitized mat for the class - please contact
me about this.
Wear loose and comfortable clothing.
It is better to practice in bare or grippy socked
feet.
It's
great to have a blanket for warmth in relaxation
at the end of class - It can also be useful
as a prop or for extra comfort.
If
you know you need head and neck or a kneeling
support please bring a cushion.
At
this time I cannot provide any additional equipment.
Bring anything for your own use that works for
you.
On-line
please bare in mind your environment and make
yourself an as clear and quiet space as you
can, to avoid knocking things onto yourself
and being
interupted by phones and noise
from televisions.
WHAT
TO EXPECT IN CLASS
In
my classes you can expect to begin by settling
down and 'checking in' with how you're feeling
generally. This might inform how you approach
the rest of your practice for that session.
I'll
encourage you to focus on your breath through
an exercise of gentle breath control and/or
different postures with emphasis on breath.
We'll
start moving with attention still brought towards
the breath.
This
may follow with other warm up movements.
Coming
to our feet we will try a few rounds of a 'Sun
Salutation' a set sequence of postures you'll
get to know and may be able to navigate yourself
through with ease given time and practise.
Moments
of pause. Allowing the body to recallibrate.
A
variety of standing positions, mindful movements
and balance postures. Some of the positions
might be familiar, traditional or modified Yoga
postures.
Coming
to the floor, lying or sitting for some more
movement and postures.
Moments of pause.
Having
taken the body through foward, side and back
bending and into some twists you will be encouraged
to make yourself as comforatble as possible,
perhaps with your blanket over you for warmth
and then the class as a whole will be invited
to come to rest and allow the body time to absorb
the activities of the session. Some cues for
relaxation may be offered.
At
this time (Covid19) there will be no hands on
adjustments and no forceful breathing exercises.
Advanced
practice for me is not balancing upside
down on one hand on top of a mountain in £200
tights whilst taking a photo. - (go for
it, if that's your thing!)
I
teach advanced practice as learning to be in
your body with all that is going on that day.
Perhaps you'll learn some useful tools in simple
breathing, movement and postural practices that
could help you respond more skillfully to the
challenges of daily life.
With
that in mind. I think everyone can 'do yoga'
Any questions or for more information please
get in contact.
PERSONAL
TUITION
If
you require a more personal/individual ZOOM
/ SKYPE / FACETIME Yoga and, or somatic session.
Please get in contact.
