I am Hatha trained and am currently also studying Anusara yoga. The best way I think to describe my yoga is mindful yoga. I have a strong emphasis on alignment but try not focus on the exact posture achieved, although I give cues for the poses, with alignment to keep the poses safe, its more how it feels in the body. I try to connect the mind & body by examining how a pose feels - I have an idea that yoga should be more about the journey to a pose than the 'perfect' pose itself. So I try to slow a flow down, examining the parts of it before building up the speed. As I build the journey into a flow it hopefully can transforms the movements into a form of meditation. I also bring in some yoga philosophy & basics slowly to deepen the practice for people who attend regularly without losing the accessibility for beginners. All that said I’m quite a chatty person & don’t feel yoga should be totally serious- there should definitely be some giggling going on at points!
