About Metta Yoga

My yoga teaching is inspired by teachers who have worked with Vanda Scaravelli, with emphasis on the importance of spinal alignment and breathwork in the yoga postures. ‘Metta’ means ‘loving-kindness’, and it is this that I encourage students to show towards themselves in their yoga practice, as gentleness, acceptance and awareness. Awareness of how the body responds during the postures and acknowledging and accepting one’s own personal ‘range’ of movements at any given time is central to my teaching approach. Yoga is never a competition, but an individual journey.

As well as postures and breathwork, these classes (always small to allow for individual attention) also include the opportunity for relaxation and meditation. From time to time I run Saturday morning 3-hour workshops of Yoga, including postures, breathwork, relaxation and meditation. The classes are suitable for any level of experience, especially beginners and those students who would like to work more slowly. I am also qualified to teach Pregnancy Yoga.

I also offer one-to-one Yoga sessions.
