Hello, my name is Amanda.
I am a Complementary Therapist with 20 years experience, and I fully appreciate the importance of a well rounded and balanced approach to health and well being. Yoga for me was a missing tool in my tool box which I believe should be on offer to everyone, especially in this day and age when we are bombarded with stimuli. We tend to respond by being unable to sit still and stop the endless chatter of our mind, or we come to a halt in front of the television and become couch potatoes.
I teach Hatha Yoga classes which include Pranayama, Meditation, Relaxation and Mantra. I encourage students to forget the \\\\\\\'no pain, no gain\\\\\\\' attitudes so prevalent in our society today and practice at their own pace, respecting their bodies limitations. Everyone is different so it is important to honour yourself and your body to get the most out of your practice. In this way, not only do you progress more quickly, but you develop a good safe practice. Class is friendly and supportive, and all ages and abilities are welcome. I have practiced yoga on and off since my teens, but like most people life got in the of way regular practice.
Only in the past 10 years have I been able to make a commitment to myself and my practice and work towards teacher training. The rewards have been immense. I am always amazed at how restricted students of all ages tend to be in their bodily movements, even those who consider themselves fit tend to lack suppleness. I also see on a regular basis how difficult we all find it to stop and be still, and to quieten our minds. It doesn\\\\\\\'t have to be hard work, and it should be enjoyable, come and give it a go.
For those people who prefer private sessions, or who want to work on specific health problems, I also offer private classes in the comfort of their own homes.
