Hi! My name is Sarah Toward and I am a highly qualified Iyengar yoga instructor. I have been practising yoga for over 25 years.
I gained my first qualification to teach Iyengar yoga in 2005, and continue to gain further qualifications, constantly striving to be the very best teacher I can be.
I have always loved being active: running, karate, circuit training, tennis, surfing, etc. Initially I thought yoga would be a bit too whimsical and ‘girly’ for me. Having dabbled in pretty much all yoga styles, I finally found the attention to detail, sequencing and genius use of yoga blocks/bricks/belts within the Iyengar tradition provided the strong yoga practice which challenged me physically and left me wanting more.
I have had the joy of training with many of the world’s best teachers, each of whom has contributed to my unique teaching style.
I feel as strong, and move as easily, in my 40's as I did in my 20's. I’ve also found that yoga gives me what I need to cope with the stresses and strains of life.
I would love you to open yourself up to the possibilities and experience Iyengar yoga for yourself. With your first class free you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Below are a few comments from students:
"Sarah is an expert yoga teacher and also has a tremendous ability to motivate her students. She works plenty of one-to-one attention into classes, and fine-tunes the practice to fit every student's ability. She gets to know everybody's quirks and injuries and finds ways around them. Although everything is slow, there is lots of physical effort, as well as concentration and laughs. Every class leaves you with tired muscles and a clear mind. I started yoga in the hope of dealing with a lower back problem. Sarah's classes gave me control over that, and much more."
"Sarah was my first yoga teacher and I can still remember my first class with her. I took to Sarah's teaching style and Iyengar yoga immediately, soon I was attending classes regularly at Sarah's teaching space. I found Sarah to be an excellent teacher; her classes were obviously well-planned, structured, varied, professional and always delivered with plenty of 1:1 adjustments. I'll never forget the calm and peace I felt after each class. I believe those first years of yoga teaching were the best I had."
"I started yoga in my thirties when, even though I kept fit with several different sports, I realised I couldn't touch my toes and also had some niggly back problems from an old injury! I discovered Iyengar yoga and after a couple of terms found myself in Sarah's class. I continued going to her classes for more than seven years, all through my second pregnancy, under Sarah's excellent and careful guidance, and through those early, tiring years with two small boys. I became a lot more flexible and strong, my back problems disappeared and I could at last touch my toes! My stress levels reduced and I looked forward to my class every week. Sarah is a wonderful teacher, always cheerful, encouraging and showed a great understanding of all our different body shapes. I would recommend Sarah's classes to anyone and would still be going if we were in the same country! I wish her the best of luck with her new classes."
"Sarah's classes are transformative, invigorating and passionate. Prepare yourself to be inspired! You truly inspired me and the practice awakened me fully!! Thanks so much, Sarah!"
