Come and experience the joy of Kundalini Yoga, known as ‘The Yoga of Awareness’ or the mother of all yogas as taught by Yogi Bhajan. He brought it to the West in 1969 and taught it openly for the first time in history.  For thousands of years it had been a  practice taught exclusively by master to student in India, mainly to rulers and sages.

He felt that it was the time to make this wonderful yoga available to all.

These classes are suitable for beginners as well as those with previous experience.

Kundalini yoga works on strengthening the nervous system as well as the glandular system (often referred to as the ‘guardians of health’), and helps to strengthen the circulatory system and energetic pathways of the body.  With regular practise it can help to promote feelings of well-being, balance and self-awareness and enhances feelings of vitality opening you up to your creative potential.

Kundalini is a powerful and fast working ancient technology and helps to release stress and emotional tension enabling you to stay calm and strong within and centered.

The class starts with a warm up, then a brief mantra to tune in and then pranayama (breath techniques), a kriya meaning ‘action’ which consists of asanas (set of sequenced postures each practised for a set amount of time – usually a few mins) with meditation and sometimes with mantras (chants) – it does not matter if you feel you cannot sing as it is not singing but chanting and experiencing the vibrations of the Sound Current whilst using mudras (hand gestures) and meditations. Then we tune out with a brief chant at the end.

The kriyas target the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of ourselves and every week there will be a different kriya, meditation and pranayama.

There is also beautiful gentle kundalini music played during the class.

Location Information

The Barley Townhouse just outside Royston -leave Royston to go in direction of Barley on B1039. The Townhouse is opposite the church & entrance at back of building through glass doors. Carpark at rear. go up a small flight of stairs, (middle door).

Call Jane for info re other locations.
