About Papilio Yoga (Dru)

About me:

Hi, my name is Jaci and I am a qualified Dru Yoga teacher and member of the Dru Professional Network (DPN). I also teach Embodied Yoga Principles (EYP).

Practicing yoga has had a transformative effect for me and my life and I am passionate about making it accessible to each and every person who would like to experience the benefits for themselves, regardless of age, fitness level or experience.

About Dru Yoga:

Yoga is a fantastic way to improve your general health and wellbeing, increase strength, flexibility and balance. Dru Yoga is a flowing form of yoga, easily adaptable so that everyone can do it. It works on the physical and the emotional body, encouraging a sense of balance, increased energy and vitality, as well as a feeling of peace and calm.

The aim of each class is that you learn to listen to and work with your body as well as your mind, developing the capacity to be your own guide and teacher rather than simply copying me. Therefore classes have a workshop feel and there is usually more talking than you’re likely to experience in other classes.

Each class includes: activations (warm up); an Energy Block Release (EBR) or other sequence; 2 or 3 postures; pranayama (breathing techniques) or meditation; and finishes with a 15-20 min deep relaxation.

As an ex-nurse, massage therapist and an aromatherapist the majority of my regular students are women who chose to practice yoga as a means of improving their physical and mental health after illness, surgery or years of inactivity. Many were new to yoga, starting with drop-in classes or 1-2-1 sessions, progressing to the regular class because of the benefits they continue to experience.

As well as the general classes listed below, I also offer one-to-one lessons and private classes in Kings Heath, Moseley and across Birmingham. For more information or to book sessions please feel free to contact me.

For more info on Dru Yoga check out their website: https://druyoga.com/yoga.

If unsure then do message me with your contact details and I’ll be in touch.

Class Info:

Wed 6.30-7.40pm (term times only). All Abilities. £8/class paid in advance or £10 on the night.

The class is open to everyone, regardless of experience, age, physical ability or fitness levels. It is suitable to those with little or no experience of yoga and intermediate students new to Dru. Advanced practitioners are also welcome, particularly those unable to continue their usual style due to health considerations, such as recovering from injury, surgery or treatment.

Classes run during term time only. Please let me know if you’re considering coming to a class for the first time.

Classes are planned by term. Each term we focus on a sequence and a few core postures with other complementary postures brought in at different stages throughout the term. This way you can explore a sequence and a few postures more deeply, getting a greater sense of the effect practicing them has on you and how you can apply what you learn to your own practice both on and off the mat.
