Restorative Yoga is a gentle yoga practice that will create a sense of calm and peacefulness in your mind and body.
The poses are held for longer, typically 5-10 mins and are designed to bring harmony between your sympathetic system, (fight or flight) and your parasympathetic system, (rest and digest). You will often find yourself lying on the floor, wrapped in a blanket with an eye mask on!
Today’s lifestyle often leaves us feeling stressed, anxious, physically tense or in pain suffering with a number of different autoimmune issues. Our brains are often processing at high speed leaving us unable to relax at night which leads to insomnia or a restless night’s sleep. Or we enjoy our sport; running, the gym, tennis, ruby, football and we find it hard to relax and allow our muscles to stretch and lengthen.
If we did find the time, we would discover our performance would improve as we are carrying less tension in the body.
