Yoga for Pregnancy:
These very popular classes are suitable from 12 weeks onwards - no need to have done yoga before. Gentle yoga stretches, breathing & relaxation techniques plus time to discuss various topics about pregnancy, labour, birth and early postnatal period.
The aim for these classes is for you to have an enjoyable and relaxing time, whilst improving both your physical and emotional well being and your chances of having a positive birth experience. Women who do Yoga For Pregnancy classes report improved sleep, reduced aches and pains, increased flexibility, improved posture and greater body awareness - thereby building their confidence in themselves and their bodies.
For those who are already mothers, the class is a time to relax, concentrate on the new baby, and prepare for this birth. For first time mothers, there will be lots of practical tips, opportunity to meet others and ask questions. Perhaps most importantly (just as with all NCT classes) you can make new and lasting friendships.
Birthlight Postnatal Yoga:
Birthlight Postnatal Yoga uses original sets of yoga practices, many of which are now mainstream, that are uniquely suited to help you regain your core-strength, your figure, emotional well-being and overall fitness after birth by restoring tone to the deep muscles of the pelvis and lower back. A range of 'steps to postnatal recovery' are taught and can be started at any time after birth (1:1 at home in the first 6-8 weeks and at White Horse Yoga Centre following your 6-week postnatal check). Each step works towards 'closing' the body, re-knitting abdominal muscles and building strength and stamina. Postnatal Yoga sessions use Pranayama (yoga breathing), with the additional benefit of inducing deeper sleep and reducing postnatal fatigue. These Postnatal Yoga practices are suitable for women however their babies have been born. Attendees will create a new foundation for better physical and emotional well-being at the same time as being energised from within. More dynamic yoga postures are gradually incorporated to make a safe transition to general yoga or other forms of exercise with long term benefits for womens health.
