Raziya’s yoga journey started at the age of 17, living and travelling in India. Here she had the opportunity to learn and practise in yoga ashrams in a very traditional way at its source.
As an experienced Massage Practitioner, trained in London and Hawaii, she began to recognise just how much yoga could help the various problems her massage clients were presenting. This led Raziya on to begin her yoga teacher training in 2000.
The YTT course was based on the principles of Vanda Scaravelli. This method inspired her and sat comfortably with her 6 years of learning the Alexander Technique. Raziya has developed her style of teaching to encompass and reflect these principles.
Her approach focuses on working in a gentle and intelligent way to free the spine, practising mindfully, encouraging the body and mind into asanas, developing strength and flexibility, all whilst creating an inner stillness and calm.
So now with over 40 years of yoga practice, 15 years of yoga teaching experience, a Bachelors Degree and a Post Graduate certificate in Education, Raziya uses her combined experiences to teach classes and workshops, one to one sessions and yoga retreats to suit all ages and abilities, practising asana, pranayama, meditation and Sanskrit chanting.
Raziya offers international yoga retreats, and classes, workshops and one to one tuition from a variety of locations including Swindon and Bristol.
