Rosie’s classes are fun and exploratory, with the emphasis on listening to what are bodies are telling us for our individual enjoyment and well-being rather than aiming to achieve an externalised image of what particular postures should look like.
I find this approach refreshing and pressure-free and believe as a result have achieved more than I expected. Highly recommended!

A friend recommended I try out Do Your OM Thing Yoga and I’m pleased they did. I had been to a few yoga classes, but was by no means an experienced yogi when I went to my first ‘Broga’ Style Yoga class with Rosie. The style of yoga is strong, but very suitable for a relative beginner like I was.

I live an active lifestyle and enjoy various sports and am keen to maintain my levels of fitness, even when I can’t be out trekking or playing football. I found after a few sessions of yoga I improved my core strength and loosened my hipflexors. In my other sports and activities, there can be a focus on the end goal, so I find yoga provides a nice balance to this mindset of needing to get better, or to the next stage; there is no completing yoga and the real ‘improvements’ are felt in the process rather than the end posture.

I am noticeably more relaxed by the end of the session, and it’s not uncommon for me to have a little doze in the final relaxation, which Rosie assures me is a good thing!

I went to my first yoga class with Rosie on the recommendation of a friend who thought I could benefit from increased flexibility (I had a recurrent sports injury). Before I attended the class, I was a little nervous – especially as my preconceptions of yoga were that it involved holding uncomfortable positions for ages, and wouldn’t be sufficiently active for someone who was used to high-intensity exercise. I needn’t have worried! Rosie’s classes are great fun, dynamic and perfect for someone who likes to feel they have really worked hard.

Rosie’s classes focus on building both strength and flexibility, so in addition to a myriad of stretches, there are plenty of planks, vinyasas and holds which really work my core and are great for toning up. Rosie caters for all abilities (when I first started my body was as stiff as you would expect from someone who hasn’t stretched since he left school!), and is great at charting our progression and giving us new challenges as we improve. The great thing about yoga is there is always something new to learn, with tougher variations just as you think you have mastered a pose – as I found after trying side crow just when I thought I was getting the hang of crow!

In addition to the physical benefits (I am more flexible, have a stronger core, better muscle definition and generally feel fitter than I have in ages), Rosie creates a really warm and welcoming atmosphere… and she is so passionate about yoga and fitness, it’s infectious. Since going to her classes, I have started 1-to-1 sessions.

I can’t recommend Rosie’s classes enough. She is a great teacher – and her classes are perfect for those, like me, who prefer the physical side of yoga to its more meditative forms… although I have no doubt Rosie’s gentle classes are great too.
