Jacquies Yoga Blend
Yoga Teacher in Finchampstead, Berkshire
I am very keen to inspire students to incorporate yoga into their busy lives, to keep them fit, supple, mobile and strong. It is for everyone. Beginners get a strong foundation and attention to detail; cyclists, tennis players, golfers, runners learn ways to counter stretch and strengthen, to avoid injury. Everyone gains something from yoga.
Yoga is a practice that uses your brain and your body, via your breath, so it is very focused.
It is non-competitive – sometimes the reason that guys don’t want to try it! – but the challenge is to yourself, to how you are on a specific day, to get the most out of your body and mind.
I study anatomy and like to make my students aware of which muscles, joints, organs etc are being used in each posture, to gain the maximum benefits.
I have practiced yoga for years. I lived in Los Angeles for a great part of that and learned from teachers who studied in India and with leading yoga practitioners.
It is a Hatha yoga class, based on Iyengar, but with elements of flow sequences (we build towards it, depending on the class).
We also learn basic yoga breathing techniques to get the most out of your yoga, and on their own to help relieve nerves, depression, anxiety.
I also run Saturday afternoon workshops in Old Basing with a fellow teacher, about 4 times a year. These are 3 hour themed sessions where we can go deeper into our practice, and explore more.
All levels are welcome.
