About The Yoga Geek
Hello – this is me, Kirsty Norton. I have been a yoga passionista for 18 years, I started this blog back in 2010 and it started as a kind of journal of yoga world but its developed over time to quotes that I find inspiring, recommendations of teachers and retreats, yoga chit chat and most of all I wanted it to be a resource to help those of you that don’t have time to research yourself. I’ve included vlogs, videos, yoga lessons, yoga chats and its still evolving to suit you, the reader.
I teach hatha yoga, it can have a flow to it sometimes but I like to think I bring my intuitive side into the classroom to get a sense of what people need at that moment. I always plan my classes and it usually changes depending on what’s going on fore everyone but there’s always an intelligent sequencing to get you to the peak pose and then bring you back down to the ground ready to restore and relax.
My teaching is down to earth with some humour. I’m not holier than thou but I do try to better myself through my yoga practice and having come from a background of anxiety and stress I’ve managed to change my responses to life situations to be more nourishing than sabotaging.
I teach hatha, flow and pregnancy yoga and focus on bringing you a comprehensive and fun way of learning yoga. Its like a Yoga Toolkit. In this kit there are many fantastic techniques for you to take away including ways to calm your mind, release anxiety through your breath, ease out that tension in your neck and ways to help you live in the present moment.
After all that’s all we have – right here, right now (Isn’t there a song about that?).
I’ve been doing yoga for nearly 18 years (splutter, cough, has it really been that long!!!!), I’ve been teaching for nearly 10 of those years. I’ve taught over 1000 hours, written articles for Yoga Magazine, Italian Glamour and Yoga Abode. I teach for the online yoga resource Love Yoga Online and have videos which you can watch for free on YouTube.
My classes, workshops and retreats are intended to be:-
Fun – there’s enough serious stuff going on every day
Strong – not just physically, the techniques she teaches you will build up your mental, emotional and physical resilience so you can deal with the stuff life throws at you
Interesting – to allow you to expand your knowledge and start your own personal inquiry into the science of yoga
Beneficial – so you can walk away with that ahhhhh feeling
For everyone – every level of student is catered for
