About Yoga with Zara

I graduated from the 200hr Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training course with Doron Yoga – however, I have a varied and daily practice in different styles of yoga: Rocket Yoga, Vinyasa, Mysore Ashtanga and Hatha. I’m lucky to have worked with some talented and world class yoga teachers over the years who have really helped me to understand the mechanics of my body.  After years of working for large corporations and being sat at a desk, I became stressed as a result of exhaustion, and the lack of movement during the day meant that my energy levels became stagnant. I found sanctuary from the busy London life when I came to my mat to flow through physical asanas as well as simply sitting to meditate and quiet my mind. Yoga has been an energising and nourishing practice, which has resulted in positive changes to my well being and I aim to share this window of light with others through my teaching. My passion in life is body work: strengthening, balancing, stretching and building up stamina. I’m fascinated by kinesiology and calisthenics, and the interconnection of body and mind. As a teacher, I am mindful of the ever changing nature of the human body as well as the musculoskeletal differences from one person to the next. I’m here to guide, align, assist, not to judge. I provide an atmosphere where people can practise safely, whilst also giving them the courage to challenge themselves. I tailor classes to my students’ needs and I enjoy creating sequences that work a variety of muscles to provide a balanced practice. In terms of my experience, I teach at various studios across in London. I also teach chair yoga in care homes for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s, at refuges for women who have been the subject of domestic violence to help them to relax, clients who are pregnant or injured.  If I can bring the same peace and equanimity to others that I have found through yoga then I will have succeeded as a teacher. I look forwards to catching you on the mat.
