Yoga for Pregnancy:
The classes involve specifically adapted yoga postures and practices to nurture the mum-to-be and her growing baby. The practices can help to maintain and develop physical strength, stamina and flexibility to support your body during pregnancy and the birthing process. We also do simple breathing and relaxation exercises to ease tension and calm the mind. The small, informal classes are designed to enable mums-to-be to feel comfortable and supported to share experiences and concerns with other mums-to-be. Classes are suitable for pregnant women after 14 weeks. Mats, cushions and blocks are provided so you just need to wear comfortable clothes.
Birth Preparation Workshop:
A workshop for mums-to-be and their birth partners (your birth partner does not have to be your husband or boyfriend so if you are having another birth partner you may want to bring them along too). This session will look at: the different stages of labour; how you can put the things we do in class into practice; and what kind of support partners can provide to their partners, including some basic massage techniques and those silly walks! It is a practical and interactive session (for the men and women!) so please wear comfortable clothes. What people have said about the workshops: â€œ it provides a tool box for an active labourâ€, â€œa way of cementing and sharing what you learn in the weekly sessionsâ€, and male participants have said it was â€œbetter than NHS/Russells Hall sessions and more practical than the NCT. Mamma and Baby Yoga
The classes involve simple yoga postures and practices to nurture and bring enjoyment to both mum and baby. The practices aim to support your babyâ€™s development through passive stretching and rhythmic movement accompanied by singing and action songs. The practices aim to help you improve your posture, re-energise and recover your strength and vitality and enable you to enjoy interacting, moving and relaxing with your baby. You will also learn holds and techniques that can help soothe your baby, improve digestion and promote sleep. The class includes time for refreshments and a chat with other mums.
General Yoga Classes
These classes will use classical and adapted yoga postures and practices to nurture, strengthen and energise the body and calm the mind. We will explore physical practices to improve posture and alignment which can often be the cause of everyday aches and pains. The classes will also integrate breathing exercises to help calm the body and draw the mind away from day to day concerns. Relaxation at the end of each class will aim to release tension and create a time and space just for you.
